Job overview
To work efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team providing a service of basic cardiac investigations and to assist with the delivery of more complex investigations ensuring optimal standards of care are provided to patients within the Trust
Main duties of the job
Perform a variety of diagnostic tests for the cardiac assessment unit following a daily workload schedule as instructed.
Produce accurate detailed reports of diagnostics
Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
The post holder will be required to work at any location where the trust provides a service.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To perform 12 lead ECGS independently and action appropriately
To analyse 24 hour (or longer) ECG recordings using Pathfinder Digital or Pathfinder SL and provide a factual report escalating to the relevant person as necessary.
To analyse Event Monitors and BP monitors and provide a factual report escalating to the relevant person as necessary.
To assist with Exercise Tolerance tests as a second person, then lead when appropriately trained.
To perform Haemodynamic monitoring in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory under supervision until appropriately trained. (band 5)
To assist in nurse led ILR implantation (Band 5)
Perform ILR follow up and provide a factual report based on findings and escalate as appropriate.
Participate in remote follow up clinics. (Band 5)
Perform Pacemaker follow up and implantations and make adjustments based on findings as appropriate or as directed by the pacing consultant. - under supervision until appropriately trained. (Band 5)
To complete ILS if not already held and remain responsible for updating yearly. (Band 5)
To perform full and daily checks of resuscitation trolley ensuring is readily available prior to commencement of each procedure.
Work within local and national guidelines and directives ie NICE etc
Compliant with all hospital policies including infection control and information governance
To use the Hospital Patient Administration system (Alexhealth).
To use the Cardiology patient management system (CRIS and Xero).
To maintain a clean working environment including cleaning of equipment.
To be flexible to provide cover at other sites in the case of unexpected absence.
Assist with training of junior members of staff in the performance and technique of tests performed within the department.
Identify own training needs and maintain own skill development and mandatory training.
