We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate Band 7 Manager to provide leadership to our Children’s Emergency Department and Paediatric Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
This is a key leadership role for a someone with significant paediatric urgent or emergency care experience who is passionate about patient safety, staff wellbeing and service improvement. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, effective and high‑quality care for children and young people, while supporting and developing the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Lead the day‑to‑day operational management of CED and Paediatric SDEC
- Ensure safe staffing, skill mix, patient flow and escalation processes
- Provide visible and supportive leadership in a fast‑paced emergency environment
- Maintain oversight of clinical governance, safeguarding and patient safety
- Line manage ward sisters/charge nurses and associated staff groups
- Lead investigations into incidents and complaints, embedding learning into practice
- Use data, audit and feedback to drive quality improvement
- Work collaboratively with medical teams, site management and wider paediatric services
